What we do in Centre of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies?

We are research group focused on the Area of Sintering Techniques at the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies at the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology. We specialize in R&D activities conducted in the field of: pressure-assisted sintering processes, especially SPS (Spark Plasma Sintering) and HPHT (High Pressure – High Temperature) techniques. We mainly deal with advanced ceramic materials, including superhard materials (diamond, cBN) and ceramic composites (oxide- and nitride-based ceramics as well as multicomponent CMCs) intended for cutting tools applications, but also with other sintered materials for engineering applications (thermoelectrics, UHTCs,  etc.). Our activity covers a wide spectrum of topics both related to sintering technology and material research, including: optimization of sintering processes and development of sintering apparatus, studies on physical and mechanical properties of materials, microstructural and phase analysis, and technological tests. The Centre can boast over fifty years of cooperation with both the scientific and industrial community.

 

Major responsibilities:

  1. Solving scientific problems in the field of sintering of advanced materials with use of pressure-assisted methods.
  2. Implementation of research and experimental work on the area of sintering techniques.
  3. Preparation of research methodologies.
  4. Acquisition of R&D projects.
  5. Representing the Institute outside in contacts with clients.
  6. Conducting works aimed at the practical adaptation of research results and participation in their implementation and dissemination (writing reports, patent applications and publications).
  7. Conducting training in the area of its scientific activity.

 

Expectations and qualification:

  1. Doctoral degree and 2 years of experience in the research and development sector – preferred candidates with a doctoral degree in the material engineering, chemistry, chemical technology, or related subjects.
  2. At least 5 publications (referred to in § 9 paragraphs 1-3 of the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of February 22, 2019 on the quality assessment of scientific activity, hereinafter: the Regulation) indexed in international databases, such as Web of Science or Scopus with a minimum Total Impact Factor (IF) ≥ 5.
  3. Hirsch index ≥ 3.
  4. Participation in at least three R&D projects referred to in § 22 sec. 1 point 1 of the Regulation as the main contractor in the last three years.
  5. Proven experience in cooperation with industrial partners in the field of R&D works.
  6. Knowledge of SPS and/or HPHT sintering techniques, ceramics, superhard materials and composites.
  7. Experience in materials testing methods and computer design (eg CAD) and modeling (eg FEM) skills.
  8. Declaration of the main place of employment in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology.
  9. Knowledge of the English language at the level of at least B2.
  10. Knowledge of national and European sources of research funding.
  11. Communicativeness.
  12. Highly developed organizational skills.
  13. Ability to quickly adapt technological innovations.
  14. Ability to work with rapidly changing priorities.
  15. Ability to work in a team.
