Product certification involves an assessment and independent attestation by a third party, demonstrating compliance with specific requirements. It is an established conformity assessment procedure that provides assurance to consumers, public authorities, industry and other interested parties that products comply with specified requirements covering, for example, product characteristics, safety, interoperability and durability.

The product certification body of the Łukasiewicz – Krakow Institute of Technology carries out certification in both the statutory and voluntary sectors for products, machinery, equipment and tools.

The body operates in accordance with its Quality Policy and Declaration of Impartiality. Its competence is confirmed by Accreditation Certificate AC 030, issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation. Its certification activities are covered by a flexible scope of accreditation – Scope of Accreditation AC 030.

The Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology also holds notified body status (NB 1455) in the following areas:
- Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 – construction products
- The Noise Directive 2000/14/EC
- Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
- The Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2014/30/EU

Information on certificates issued
Information regarding the validity of a certificate issued by the Certification Department of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology is provided upon request, following the submission of a written enquiry stating the certificate number and the name of the certificate holder.
Complaints and appeals
Every client of the Certification Department of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology, as well as other interested parties, has the right to appeal against the decisions of the product certification body and to lodge a complaint about the services it provides.
Appeals must be submitted in writing within 14 days of receiving the certification decision. Complaints may relate to any action taken by the Certification Department in connection with product certification and must also be submitted in writing.
Appeals and complaints are dealt with within 30 days of being submitted.
