What we do in Area of Additive Manufacturing Technology at the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies?
Additive Manufacturing department of the Centre of Advanced Manufacturing Technology serves as R&D and commercial services facility in the area of additive manufacturing (AM). The centre is using Selective Laser Melting / Sintering (SLS/SLM) system from Renishaw and EOS. Within the centre there will be also working binder jetting (BJ) machine for building components of metallic and ceramic powders. The centre is using also fully equipped materials analysis laboratory including xRD, SEM, CT. Facilities at the Institute allow to perform complete heat treatment and post processing of produced materials / samples, including free sintering in inert gases (up to 2000°C) as well as HIP. R&D activities in the area of Additive Manufacturing Technology, performed at the centre, focus on optimization of SLS/SLM technology for commonly used powders but also development of processing parameters and post processing methods for new alloys and powder mixtures (i.e. for biomedical applications).
Major responsibilities:
- Solving scientific problems in the field of additive manufacturing technology
- Implementation of research and experimental work on the area of additive manufacturing.
- Preparation of research methodologies.
- Acquisition of R&D projects.
- Representing the Institute outside in contacts with clients.
- Conducting works aimed at the practical adaptation of research results and participation in their implementation and dissemination (writing reports, patent applications and publications).
- Conducting training in the area of its scientific activity.
Expectations and qualification:
- Doctoral degree and 2 years of experience in the research and development sector – preferred candidates with a doctoral degree in the material engineering, material science, chemistry, chemical technology, or related subjects.
- At least 5 publications (referred to in § 9 paragraphs 1-3 of the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of February 22, 2019 on the quality assessment of scientific activity, hereinafter: the Regulation) indexed in international databases, such as Web of Science or Scopus with a minimum Total Impact Factor (IF) ≥ 5.
- Hirsch index ≥ 3.
- Participation in at least three R&D projects referred to in § 22 sec. 1 point 1 of the Regulation as the main contractor in the last three years.
- Proven experience in cooperation with industrial partners in the field of R&D works.
- Experience in development of non-organic materials and materials properties analysis (deep knowledge of phase diagrams analysis and developments).
- Experience in materials testing, testing procedures development and analysis of results.
- Knowledge of laser machining and material forming technology.
- Knowledge of AM materials heat treatment and post processing technologies.
- Knowledge of software used for data analysis and modelling: R, MatLab / Octave / SciLab ant knowledge of 3D-CAD software;
- Declaration of the main place of employment in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology.
- Knowledge of the English language at the level of at least B2.
- Knowledge of national and European sources of research funding.
- Communicativeness.
- Highly developed organizational skills.
- Ability to quickly adapt technological innovations.
- Ability to work with rapidly changing priorities.
- Ability to work in a team.
